Levelling up access to good quality parks and greenspaces

Just a reminder that on Monday 1st March at 10.00am, you are cordially invited to the first of our Parks and Greenspaces APPG meetings for 2021. If you haven’t yet registered please use the link below to confirm your place.

At the event, we’ll be discussing the critical role that parks can play in supporting health outcomes within communities and how we can solve the current inequality of provision and access to good quality greenspace that exists around the country.

The meeting will focus on Public Health England’s recently published report ‘Improving Access to Greenspace’ which provides an overview of the benefits associated with living in proximity to good quality greenspace and the barriers to access that exist across the country, covering issues such as gender, age, disability, deprivation and ethnicity.

Among the speakers discussing the report and the solutions required will be Professor John Newton from Public Health England, Hamira Sultan, Consultant in Public Health at Birmingham City Council and Allison Ogden-Newton, Chief Executive of Keep Britain Tidy.

I very much hope you can make the meeting, at which you will have an opportunity to put your views across and ask questions of the speakers.

We hope to use the meeting as a springboard for informing government’s thinking on the investment and planning required to provide a more equitable distribution of good quality and accessible greenspace.
